Brussels - Increasing number of attacks against bailiffs

BRUSSELS – Bailiffs don’t feel safe anymore. There used to being confronted with aggressive persons during their house visits, but since a few months, the number of attacks against their offices has been increasing. In May 2012, 12 attacks have been reported against bailiff offices in Brussels since the beginning of the year. Beginning of May, four offices had been attacked simultaneously. A bailiff also testifies that an attack during the day took place; bricks were thrown through the windows of his offices, with his co-workers just behind them.

After an analysis of pamphlets and documents from the anarchist movement, the intelligence services and the Organ of the Analyses of the Threat send out a warning to the federation of bailiffs, that attacks were to be expected.
