At the start of the demo of around 500 people, small fights occured with the police, when demonstrators decided to change the legal route. During two attempts to pass police lines, people were beaten and pepper sprayed. Demonstrators reacted with throwing of projectiles towards the police and shouting of 'cops, pigs, murderers'. The day before, 15 people gathered at a public place of the small town of Couvin to say that being indignant is not enough.
